AI Overviews optimization

AI Overviews optimization is the work of getting a page cited in Google's AI Overviews, the synthesized answer block that appears above standard results. It targets the structure and trust signals Google's systems read when assembling that block.

AI Overviews sit above the organic listings and pull from several sources for one answer. A page is more likely to be drawn in when it answers the query directly, breaks content into clear headings, lists and tables, and carries strong Organization and author signals.

FAQ and structured data still help here even though Google removed standalone FAQ rich results, because the markup aids machine extraction. The page still has to earn the citation on content quality; schema clarifies, it does not guarantee.

Common questions

Does schema get a page into AI Overviews?

No, not on its own. Schema helps Google's systems read and attribute a page, but inclusion still depends on content quality, structure and authority. Treat schema as clarity infrastructure rather than a switch.

What page structure helps?

Question-based headings, a direct answer near the top of each section, and content broken into lists and tables rather than long unbroken text. These give the system clean, self-contained passages to lift.
